Just love these lessons Traci! I free motioned several foam stamps. Then wanted to have a specific shape to match a store-bought foam stamp. Brayered paint on store-bought stamp and pressed onto a sheet of foam so I could cut out the shape. Stitched the cutout and now I have a complimentary stamp to coordinate with the other. I was pleasantly surprised I could brayer paint on the stitched foam and it still shows the threads. So many possibilities with this exercise!
On another stitched foam piece, sewing machine ran out of thread. I was left with puncture marks where the needle went in foam and that shows up when printing also as dots. Another happy mistake!

Sharon- your stamp itself is a work of art!!!! And I LOVE the holes….I saw them first before I read your whole comment and was wondering how you did it? Love those “mistakes”!
I’m not much of a sewing person but we do have an old sewing machine here (ha ha my husband bought it for some repair work he did awhile back) so I may see if it is still in working order and give it a try.
Question for Traci- I’m assuming you used regular foam (non-sticky back) for the piece that was actually stitched and then adhered it to another piece of sticky back foam?

Sharon…you could use a hole punch, an awl or push pin to make holes in the foam too instead of a sewing machine. Yes, I used regular foam for the sewing then adhered to another piece of adhesive foam. If you try to sew sticky back foam, you would gum up your needle and that might cause it to break or get stuck.

I’m so excited, traci! Your class has inspired me so much already. I bought this last week, haven’t had a sewing machine since I loads my Bernina in a fire 13 years ago. This bad boy had me at the first blue light! Thank you for the inspiration

Vicki..nice machine!! love the blue light. The machine resembles the shape of the vintage singer featherweights. Have fun with the new machine. Glad you are enjoying class and that you’ll gaining loads of inspiration!

Well, not as easy as Traci makes it look! Not happy with my foam prints, or the sewing ones. I like my paper towel cleanup best.
Traci, I tried to use Glimmer Mist and Smoosh Spritz (I bought several at a clearance sale 75% off). I suspect they are not intended for bold colors. For acrylic paint I am using Masters Touch (Hobby Lobby) in a tube.
Is it me, or the materials I am using? I need to go back and watch again!

Vicki..Both Glimmer Mists and Smoosh Spritz are lightly pigmented with mica powders, so the end result gives you a very muted color palette. I’ve never used Masters Touch but if it’s a craft acrylic and not highly pigmented you’ll still get muted colors. A few tips..make sure your brush is completely dry when applying the acrylic paint. Try stamping the image in multiple times across the page turning the stamp and overlapping the image to create a pattern. Let the first layers dry then wash the page with a contrast color to bring together the page design. Thanks for sharing your experiments.
