Great to see pieces come together! Inspires me to make some skins which I haven’t played with yet.

Be careful – it’s addicting!! I am currently addicted to making skins and fused paper towels!!

Love this video. Must make some more skins so I can have a go at this 🙂

I love the video, making skins is addicting I love them. Good to see them put together. When using fabric for your substrate do you mount it on a board to frame?

Patricia..you can mount in a variety of ways. I’ve used two pieces of plexi to “float” the art between with metal screw closures, hang on a wire with clips, create a tote bag by using the same technique but on a larger piece of canvas, float the fabric piece in a shadow box frame, create multiple fabric pieces and stitch together to create an art quilt, use the fabric collage as an art journal cover…there are so many possibilities.

Loved this lesson. I made a few skins but didn’t think to cut them up like this. Fun and inspiring.

Collage test with acrylic skins…still need to learn how to handle the skins…very fragile.

Lovely!

Robin..fun page..thanks for sharing. Yes, they are very fragile, that’s why I keep them on the plastic page protectors until I use them.
Reply by Robin B. on November 11, 2014 at 6:32am
Yes, I also think I need to sacrifice the page protectors and cut them up in the shapes I want to collage rather than cut the skin itself…..was trying to be economical but in the end the skins were too delicate to do it this way!

I had tried to just pull the skins and cut up. Using the page protector makes it a lot easier.
